Faith & Practice

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-

practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:9

The Evangelical Free Church of Mt. Morris is committed to strengthening the passion of believers for the glory of God in Jesus Christ through practical means of discipleship.  As an expression of that commitment, we have developed our adult Sunday School into a ministry that will guide each learner through a four-year program of essential teaching and training.  We are calling it Faith & Practice.

"Faith" refers to all that we are to believe as Christians.  Two years of this program will focus on the content of our faith.

F1-Overview: a Bible overview including both Old and New Testaments

F2-Outline: a topical approach to Bible doctrine, including both systematic and historical theology

"Practice" refers to all that we are to do as Christians.  The other two years will focus on the practical application of our faith.

P1-Connection: the basics of spiritual disciplines, evangelism, and apologetics

P2-Community: principles of service, stewardship, vocation, marriage, and family

We would like to see every adult believer in our church complete these four year-long courses, because we believe Faith & Practice will help us go a long way toward reaching the goal of the apostle Paul for the churches under his ministry: "Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:28).

The elders who teach the classes will give only brief assignments or none at all, though resources will be available for those interested in further study.  A minimum of attendance will be required to complete each course, though there will be no final grades.

The main Faith & Practice courses will be offered September through May.  In the summer, we will conduct a series of special F&P: Worldview seminars that will present a Christian perspective to a variety of issues such as bioethics, entertainment, politics, economics, technology, and environmental concerns.
